Legends generally work well, unsurprisingly. Recommended captains: hard-hitting 2.5x and higher captains. Basically don't expect to use any specials which are 20+. Most will have one stage with a lobster, which deals about 3-4k and attacks every 4 turns, and on which you can stall a good 8 or so turns, or a similar crab stage (attacks for 1.5k or so on CD 3, be careful not to hit him with a strong opposite color unit or it may just explode.). The battles are generally short, 5 stages for the most part, some will have 7 stages. More crucially, note that you have usually 20 turns before auto-loss (occasionally, a few more), so you can't stall too much (no Eneru-style infinite stalling). Anyway, you can totally clear the stages with non-boosted characters, so don't worry too much about getting a boost. If you can confirm who is powered up, do post. Each adventure may give you hints on who is powered up, but it's not certain they are exhaustive. Luffy and some (? not Croc, for example?) Impel Down escapees - from the middle of story, chapter? Marine side (Sengoku, etc.) - NOPE. Short version: Whitebeard and his commanders - often. On the center of the island is an execution scaffold, and around it is a small town with trees around the area. It is mostly home to the families of the Marines stationed at Marineford. The majority of the island is occupied by Marineford Town (マリンフォードの町 Marinfōdo no Machi), which is noted to be rather large, especially compared to most other towns and cities in the world.

Marineford Bay (マリンフォード湾 Marinfōdo-wan) has the Encircling Wall (包囲壁 Hōiheki) installed all around of the island, which is composed of thick and high steel walls that emerge from under the sea, surrounding and trapping anyone who is inside the said area these walls are resistant to even the most power attacks in the world, and have cannons installed in windows at the top, allowing the Marines to barrage the entrapped targets. Around the building's four cardinal corners is a small mountain with a small building on top and a flag with the Marines' symbol placed on top of the roofs each.
The building is a large multistory ancient Japanese-stylized palace, with the base bearing the kanji for "Marines" (海軍 Kaigun), with the Marines symbol in between. At the back of the island, standing large, tall and proud is the Marine Headquarters building. Marineford is a crescent moon-shaped island that is composed completely of bricks and steel, with cannons on the edges.
